About "Sake of the Month"
Sake of September | Kikkawa Jozo
Since 1912, Kikkawa Jozo has been dedicated to the craft of sake brewing in Isehara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, at the foot of Mt. Tanzawa Oyama, affectionately known as “Afuri-yama”. Filtered through the mountain’s geological strata over countless years, the underground spring water possesses a hardness of 150 to 160—an exceptionally hard water in Japan. Drawn from three wells located directly on the brewery’s grounds, this pristine water forms the foundation of its sake brewing.
In 2021, the brewery introduced its new brand, af-ri (雨降///あふり). Through low-polished sake and innovative techniques that blend traditional moto brewing with modern craftsmanship, it continues to explore new possibilities in sake.
Guided by the theme “Sake for Life’s Sake,” Kikkawa Jozo crafts sake that enriches the lives of people around the world.
Enjoy a curated selection from our Sake of the Month, served as a tasting flight featuring three 60ml pours. Compare and appreciate the unique characteristics and flavors of each carefully selected sake.
